Is BIG Your Brand?

“Be Yourself. Everyone else is taken.”

BIGLeaders

A simple phrase, but a valuable lesson nonetheless. Many people mold themselves around their role models, whether it is parents, teachers, coaches, and this can prove to be a valuable asset in the journey to becoming BIG. But rather than trying to imitate, focus on implementing your own brand of BIG leadership. In order words, don’t try to replace yourself with bits and pieces of other people.

You don’t have to look very far into history to see that leaders have come in different shapes and sizes, encompassing radically different ideologies and implementing calculated yet varying strategies. Mahatma Ghandi, known for securing independent for India through a plea for peace rather than a call for arms, is one great example. On the contrary, George Washington led the colonies in a war against the British, accomplishing the same feat as a result.

“Some great leaders gain influence by confident command. Others gain influence by persistent and quiet inspiration.”

Many leaders have come since Washington and Ghandi, and many have even inspired by one or even both, yet the most impactful leaders were able to apply and fuse relevant lessons, not only from others, but from their own values, strengths, virtues, and ideals.
